I am the Associate Dean of the Master of Design program and an Associate Professor of Communication Design at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada. I have previously held permanent faculty positions as Senior Lecturer of Graphic Design at Manchester School of Art (UK) and Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Fashion Communication and Promotion at Nottingham Trent University (UK).

My interdisciplinary practice and research focus on community-engaged communication design for social inclusion, and have been featured in publications and platforms such as Design Research Society, Design for Health journal, the Design Research for Change book series, IdN, Computer Arts, The Guardian, and CNN. Alongside my teaching, I founded and ran the Manchester-based design studio OWT for six years. OWT began as an experimental and collaborative publication before evolving into a fully-operating design studio.

I hold an MA and a BA (Hons) in Design & Art Direction from Manchester School of Art and a PGCE from Huddersfield University. In 2019, I received the Design Incubation Educators Award in the category of Teaching, and in 2020, the Ian Wallace Award for Teaching Excellence at Emily Carr University.
